The Doctor Is In

After so much hoopla heard from doctor-friends, we searched high and low in 168 to find a bootleg copy of House M.D.
Gani (future surgeon, moonlighter by day and night, whiz PT now an MD) said it is the combination of Grey's Anatomy, ER and Scrubs. Rhiza (M.D., another moonlighter) admits buying her copy on the steps of MRT Shaw and swears by it for its close to reality depicting toxicity and life in the hospital. Rhe and Ryan (not doctors, btw) made it a Tuesday must watch in Minnesota for the medical drama and wit (that ER doesn't have).
It was tagged as the "uncommon cure for the common medical drama." For me, it is CSI with kulit hirits. Think Medical Investigation in a small scale. It is indeed CSI with Vince Vaugh's sarcasm. :) The approach might be one too technical for non-meds like me but what is fascinating is that it can hold my attention for 5 episodes straight with the suspense and drama (no slapping and screaming here, btw) and funny hirits. Pause in the remote control is not uso while Shirl and I are glued to our seats. Well, unless we can't hold the call of nature for that long. :)
It doesn't have Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy) but it has Robert Sean Leonard (for the Dead Poet Society and Swing Kids fanatics) or Jesse Spencer (Uptown Girls). But the star is indeed Dr. House (Hugh Laurie). He is indeed funny and sarcastic that sometimes it borders on being annoying.
Good thing he is not my doctor.

I got addicted to Sophie Kinsella's books that I had to rush to Fully Booked every payday to buy 2 of her books. Read her latest , "The Undomestic Goddess" for 3 hours, from 2 to 5 AM, Sunday morning. Nothing earth-shaking in the story, but it's a good read. With the kilig moments and ala-M&B leading man, it's worth the sleepless night. It's good entertainment....and an escape from the real harsh world.
Can't wait for her next book.

English Speaking Birthday Blow-out

Last Sunday was a blast. Shirl and I met Rhiza and Bambi to celebrate Rhiza's post birthday celebration. And to be a bash to remember (and Bambi insisting that we really have to) - we all spoke in English throughout our gimik.

We had dinner at Piadina and requested slash begged the waitress to allow us to open the champagne (without the corkage fee!) And since we announced that one of us is celebrating her birthday, she even served champagne in nice looking wine glasses.

Dinner consisted of Pasta Scampi, Fantasia Piadina, Pizza something (I only know Savarese in their menu, btw). Yum yum yum. We were so full after almost finishing off all the food. Yeah, we managed to leave a slice of pizza. I felt dizzy drinking the sparkling wine, Shirl's wine had one insect scrambling for its dear life, Rhiz drank like it was some water and Bambi managed to fool us by drinking only a half of her share.

We ended up in the fountain area of Greenbelt 3 for a nightcap. We were too full to have some coffee and we just wanted some fresh air and some more English moments before we went on our separate ways. As usual, the famous Itno bashing, the who's who and other stuff.

It was a night to remember. And guess what we'll be trooping again to Greenbelt on July 9 for some free dinner.

Happy Birthday Boldie!

June Bride no more...

Well, well, I did get your attention on my heading for this blog. I'm no June bride, and besides, I don't even have the time to look for that elusive groom...yet!

I’m supposed to be preparing for an 11AM meeting, but my stubbornness led me to our blog site, which I haven’t visited for more than a month.

Taking some time off from the frenzied and haggard world of events management, and mothering all our charges, here I am, writing nonsense.

It’s been darn too hectic for me, I tell you. At the AAP office, you hardly have time to even have decent bathroom breaks (as in 5 minutes minimum) with the unending phone calls, non-stop emails from Bosses (either from the Big One or the smaller ones) – I have 23 bosses, mind you! – and the pasaway beneficiaries. Or maybe I have told you this already. So I’d better stop….I’m not helping myself at all. I’m not taking a break from work after all!

My weekends are now limited to a few movies here and there (last one was “Manay Po” – yes, I occasionally watch Tagalog movies, and those with good reviews), extended office hours, babysitting a couple of my alaga’s, and beading (if we have some inspiration). During the long weekend holiday, I spent the whole of Saturday in the office, celebrating the American Flag Day (how Kano can that be) and being the Stage Mother to my alaga’s who were invited as flag bearers by our Lolo’s. Hehehe…

Sunday, we got tired of Gateway and Cubao so we decided to head down Megamall – which was a welcome change. Maybe because of a change of scene, but alas, I got sick (headache and nausea) when we were there, so no choice but to leave after only an hour. Too bad, we didn’t even get to explore the new shops in MegaSmall, and I felt bad because it was really bitin. Or maybe Mega has lost its magic on me. I was captured by Gateway already (Ellaine dear, free plugging ‘to ha!)

Monday, we were in Robinson’s Metro East, about to watch “Cars”, but postponed it when Love and I got stuck in the ladies’ wear section. Ah, sale! Kaso pobre kami, kaya I just settled for a cheap baby-blue Julia ruffled blouse and knickers (sounds so Becky Bloomwood).

Just got a text from one of the Bosses (not the Big one, but the one na feeling Big, hehehe). So I’d better go back to our event’s financial projections, and beg some sponsors for more cash…and donations. July 1 is only a few days away, so I'd better get moving with those sponsors.

Wish me luck! June is indeed a very hectic and panicky month for me.

That's a wait-and-see situation. Hopefully, he will.

GOODBYE MY LOVER

Did I disappoint you or let you down?

Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?

'Cause I saw the end before we'd begun,

Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.

So I took what's mine by eternal right.

Took your soul out into the night.

It may be over but it won't stop there,

I am here for you if you'd only care.

You touched my heart you touched my soul.

You changed my life and all my goals.

And love is blind and that I knew when,

My heart was blinded by you.

I've kissed your lips and held your head.

Shared your dreams and shared your bed.

I know you well, I know your smell.

I've been addicted to you.

Goodbye my lover.

Goodbye my friend.

You have been the one.

You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer but when I wake,

You can't break my spirit - it's my dreams you take.

And as you move on, remember me,

Remember us and all we used to be

I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile.

I've watched you sleeping for a while.

I'd be the father of your child.

I'd spend a lifetime with you.

I know your fears and you know mine.

We've had our doubts but now we're fine,

And I love you, I swear that's true.

I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover.

Goodbye my friend.

You have been the one.

You have been the one for me.

And I still hold your hand in mine.

In mine when I'm asleep.

And I will bear my soul in time,

When I'm kneeling at your feet.

Goodbye my lover.

Goodbye my friend.

You have been the one.

You have been the one for me.

I'm so hollow, baby, I'm so hollow.

I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.
