It was a spur of the moment decision. No month long planning, big bucks savings or resort reservation maneuvering. It was more of a "magpaitim tayo dun sa malayo!" kind of thing.
I never stepped on Batangas pier. Shirly had been there a long long time ago. And we only see Mindoro on a map. And yet, there we were - two brave souls going to Puerto Galera armed with moolah, swimsuits, cover ups, mineral water and lots of guts.
For an off peak season, there were lots of tourists - Koreans pala. We were with them on our way to White Beach aboard MB Brian. The ferry ride was uneventful except for occassional splashes of waves that didn't even manage to reach us.
Compared to Bora, the basnig was long (the bigger banca version, fyi) and the ride was more than hour. Madugta, I even slept na walang poise. You can't chatter naman or else I might give a saliva shower to my seatmates. After so-so minutes...I could see the island. And the beach. And the establishments (which are really really near the beach!).
As the ferry approached the shore, Shirl and I were already looking for the best place to sunbathe and swim. Ooop! there it is. It looks like station 1 of Bora...less people, less banca parked on the waters and more space for our sexy bodies (nyahaha).
Our daily breakfast : banana pancakes, canned fruits and green tea

End of White Beach
Our accommodation was fine - nothing fancy. Since it was offpeak, we had the "inn" all by ourselves. Oops, we did share it with another group pala. So, during those very hot afternoons, we locked ourselves in the room and watched TV - Discovery Travel and Living and Living Asia. O diba, we really nagfee-feeling that we were on vacation. In between those tv viewings were sips of choco peanut shakes and gulps of san mig light and gobbles of choc nut. This is the life!
Early mornings were spent strolling the beach and taking a dip into the salabay-infested waters of the Puerto Galera. Oops, did I say salabay (jelly fish, ba!)? I tell you, the sting was pretty tolerable. Ask Shirly! Sunbathing were also done in the mornings kasama mga fairskinned Caucasian women. Next time, we should wear skimpier 2 pieces.

Soak up the sun!
We never did the boat ride and snorkelling thingies. We do want to try the banana boat pero wala naman kaming kasama. We just enjoyed ourselves soaking up the sun (pasok- Sheryl Crow!) and swimmings and picture taking (oops, did I just say photo-ops?).
Night life in PG was pretty quiet. Palibhasa umuulan but the rain didn't stopped Shirl and I trying out the famous Mindoro Sling at Miko's Bar. The bartender (or should I say, bartender-ess) was funny. S/he danced around and made jokes with all the customers. Btw, you'll recognize him/her easily since she always wear red leggings daw! Well, Mindoro Sling did sting me. Na-wating ako, sabay pa ng gulps of Miller. So much for high alcohol tolerance. Bilib talaga ako sa best friend ko, last woman standing pagdating sa inuman.

No to ladies's drink!

San Mig and Mindoro Sling : Perfect companions at Miko's
On our last day, we strolled around the different side of PG...pagtawid ng malalaking bato was the Tamaraw Beach. Nich beach with cute cottages. Good for honeymooners and barkadas since you get to have the beach all by yourselves. Plan nga namin ni Shirl, the next visit namin with your S.O.s - doon na kami para walang istorbong na vivideoke in the the nearby tindahan.
Who says that one can't make a great 3d/2n vacation with only a day of planning and 4000 bucks? It was all girl bonding (no papa-watching nga lang). Our next stop : Panglao! or Disneyland! or Palawan!
